Job description

We are seeking a talented and reliable Medical Assistant to provide critical support in both the back office and front desk operations of our busy ambulatory clinic.

You will work closely with a team of certified midwives, nurses, and medical assistants to provide exceptional care to pregnant people and their families. This position requires proficiency in handling high patient volume, familiarity with Athena (EMR) systems, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service in a healthcare setting.

General Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care Assistance: Support clinical staff by assisting with patient care tasks, including blood draws, injections, and taking vitals. You will also help prepare and maintain sterile environments for procedures and ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Front Desk Operations: Greet and check in patients, manage appointment scheduling, and answer phones to address patient inquiries. You will ensure smooth administrative processes, including confirming patient details and assisting with general clinic communication.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management: Oversee the clinic's inventory of medical supplies, ensuring accurate stock levels, proper storage, and timely reordering. You will also assist with routine equipment maintenance and ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Documentation and EMR Management: Accurately document patient information, including medical histories and vitals, in the EMR system (Athena). You will ensure that all patient records are up to date and properly managed for continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • CertifiedMedical Assistant through the Washington State Department of Health

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20-25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 40-50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, handling, and palpation; ability to reach, stand, sit, crouch, or kneel as needed.
  • Walking up and down stairs and moving around the clinic.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience working in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide thoughtful, empathetic care to a diverse patient population.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Comfort with technology and navigating various software platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in using EMR systems (experience with Athena Health preferred).

Schedule/Shift:

Monday - Friday with flexible scheduling options (Four 10's or Five x 8's)

Contract Length:

400 hours (approximately 2-3 months). Opportunity to convert to permanent hire after satisfactory completion of contract.

Pay:

$27 - $30 / hour + 401(K) + sick + medical, dental, vision insurance
