Job description

Medix is hiring for Medical Assistants in the Leavenworth, KS area!

Job Responsibilities: As a Medical Assistant, you will be part of a team of caregivers to provide care for the people who need it most. As a Medical Assistant, you are responsible for receiving and preparing patients for medical examination and treatment. This includes recording vital signs, medical history, and social history, assisting the provider with the examinations and treatment, and entering clinical data into the electronic health record system. Under the general supervision of a medical provider, you will perform general medical services such as medication administration, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You are a critical part of the patient-centered medical team providing quality, accessible, and safe healthcare. If you have a passion for working with a team of dedicated caregivers to make care visible every day, this role is for you.

  • Greet patients and escort them to the treatment room, making sure patients are comfortable and prepare the feet for an exam by physician.
  • Open and prep exam rooms each morning / close and clean exam rooms at end of day
  • Work with multiple providers and travel with them to different locations if needed.
  • Complete pre-authorizations, medical histories, medications, allergies and enter into EMR system
  • Complete rapid health indicator
  • Oversee inventory of back office supplies, order new supplies if needed
  • Patient education

Must Haves:

  • 2 Years of experience (if you are not certified) in Private Office, Ambulatory Care Clinic, or Hospital

Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Pay: $16.50 - $21 hourly, depending on experience

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications

  • 2 + years' Medical Assistant experience
  • Knowledgeable about medical terminology
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Medical office experience

Nice to Have Skills

  • Certification not required, but nice to have
  • Looking for someone who is independent

Soft Skill/Attribute Requirements

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, other employees, and the public
  • Must have a team mentality, flexibility and willingness to learn
  • The ability to communicate effectively, multi-task and work under pressure is the key to success in this position, which also requires attention to detail and a commitment to achieving consistent customer satisfaction.
  • Must exercise good judgment and discretion
