Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Provider to ensure patient treatment runs smoothly and efficiently for both the Provider and patient.
  • Perform a variety of clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, handling and processing lab specimens, assisting with procedures as requested and directed by Provider, nurses and other healthcare professionals, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and other procedures as ordered and supervised by Providers, giving immunization shots and other Medical Assistant functions.
  • Assist Providers and nurses with small, non-invasive tasks such as taking vital signs, bandaging wounds, and operating medical machinery.
  • Monitor clinic flow and performs duties necessary to ensure efficiency of patient care.
  • Follow agency protocols and procedures on how to identify the right patient and the right medical record at check-in, as well as before giving medication, performing procedures and during documentation.
  • Administer infant/adolescent/adult immunizations, maintain and update external immunization records. Accurately document patient and clinical information into electronic health record (EHR).
  • May provide interpretation on limited basis for patients and providers if certified by DSHS or an approved accredited organization. Contact patients as requested by clinical staff.
  • Prepare, sterilize and clean laboratory and healthcare equipment and instruments. Report defective equipment and/or devices to supervisor or appropriate personnel. Check sterile supplies to ensure that they are not outdated. Operate and maintain autoclaves, keeping record and maintenance procedures performed.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to the organization's infection prevention and control policy and procedures.
  • Ensure operations of laboratory and healthcare equipment and instruments by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and informing supervisor or authorized personnel of repairs.
  • Use Standard Precautions, proper body mechanics and WISHA/OSHA guideline. Disinfect and/or sterilize instruments and equipment used in treatments or procedures.
  • Perform a variety of tasks such as keeping exam and procedure rooms fully-stocked; keep medical and clinical areas neat and clean; order medical supplies and maintain inventory.
  • Prepare patient and clinical reports as assigned.

BLS Certification , WA State MA Certification, CPR Certification

Nice to Have Skills

1+ Years of MA Experience, 1+ Years of EMR / EPIC Experience , Bilingual in Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese
