Job description

Are you in the job market? Medix is hiring Certified Medical Assistants in Columbia, MD!

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm; Need to work 1 late day per week (10:30 - 7pm)

Pay: $19 - $22

Job Overview:

The medical assistant performs patient care from intake to exit, assists with daily care, performs various medical tasks including but not limited to vitals, point of care testing, outreach, medication administration, documentation etc. The medical assistant also performs administrative duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
  • 1 year of experience as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of electronic health records

Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily contact with patients, providers, nursing staff, family members, other employees, visitors, contracted services staff, and referral sources.
  • Assists patients through the visit flow.
  • Collect and record vital signs: pulse, temperature, respirations, blood pressure, weight, height.
  • Implement care plans: Collect specimens, administer treatments and injections, assist with procedures and GYN exams, record health status changes, and support clinicians and nurses.
  • Alert healthcare team when leaving for breaks or end of shift.
  • Explain confidentiality, anonymity, and informed consent.
  • Reinforce health information and posttest counseling importance.
  • Develop plans with clients for receiving test results and counseling.
  • Review risk assessments and safer sex guidelines with clients.
  • Establish rapport, demonstrate sensitivity, listen effectively, and distribute educational materials and condoms.
  • Document in medical records accurately and thoroughly.
  • Perform point of care and other tests following policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with all members of the patient care team.
