Job description

Job Title: Medical Assistant (MA) / Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Overview: Reporting to the Clinical Manager or Program Director, the Medical Assistant (MA) and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) are essential members of the healthcare team, responsible for providing physician support services to ensure the efficient operation of the medical centers. The MA/CMA plays a crucial role as one of the first clinical staff members to engage with patients during their provider visits. The tone set by the MA/CMA can significantly influence the overall impression of the clinic and how patients engage with the care team.

General Responsibilities: The role includes both administrative and clinical duties:

Administrative Duties:

  • Collect demographic and payment information from patients at the point of service.
  • Verify and enter insurance information into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems across various specialties (dental, substance abuse, medical).
  • Handle patient registration, schedule appointments, and process encounters.
  • Assist with reducing unnecessary write-offs and negative adjustments for uncollectible charges.

Clinical Duties:

  • Perform clinical assessments such as taking vital signs and conducting point-of-care (POC) testing.
  • Administer injections, perform EKGs, and assist with procedures.
  • Document clinical activities in accordance with governmental and institutional guidelines and protocols.

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications:

  • National CMA Certification from one of the following: AAMA, NHA, NAHP, AMT (Note: NPCE certification is not accepted).
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred).
  • High School Diploma.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay: 18-23/hr
