Job Posting: Certified Medical Assistant

Location: Gynecologic Surgery Department
Employment Type: Full-Time


Overview

Join our dedicated team in the gynecologic surgery department, where you will assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting efficient patient flow and care, assisting with exams and procedures, and performing various clinic support tasks. You will support and adhere to our Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answer patient telephone calls for referral to a physician, nurse, or pharmacist.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.
  • Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider's direction and supervision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of experience as a medical assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.

Physical Demands

  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Suture removal experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience in gynecology or surgical settings.
