Job description

Overview: The Certified Coder is responsible for the daily coding workflow - to ensure quality and compliance for charge review and processing for all clinic services. The Certified Coder will also assist with focused coding review projects, developing and conducting provider education, and coder training.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and processes encounters from the charge review work queue for coding compliance and appropriate documentation to ensure quality to maximize revenue capture and compliance with coding guidelines and payer requirements.
  • Reviews special coding reports from payers provided by revenue cycle management and other focused coding review projects and make recommendations for resubmission.
  • Provides education and training to providers for all services.'Assigns CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes according to coding guidelines. Accesses and follows, as appropriate, coding guidelines and updates.
  • Responds to coding queries from providers and other teams and departments.
  • Abides by the professional coding code of ethics.
  • Investigates and resolves coding issues for claim edits and follow up for coding related disallowed claims; communicates findings and recommendations for claim resubmission to the Billing staff.
  • Investigates and resolves coding questions from billing staff.
  • Queries providers and clinic staff regarding questions, clarification, and rendering feedback on coding/documentation errors and/or corrections needed.
  • Participates in all coding and billing team meetings, educational trainings, quality improvement activities, and ICHS mandatory trainings and meetings as required.
  • Assists the Coding Supervisor with provider education and training activities.
  • Assists with training new coders and provide other assistance as needed to the Coding supervisor and to coding and billing teammates.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of coding experience
  • CPC or CCA certified
  • EPIC experience
  • Computer proficient - Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel, and Google applications such as
    Google docs.

Additional Skills:

  • FQHC experience

Schedule/Shift:

  • Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm

Contract Length:

1,040 Hours. Opportunity to convert to permanent hire after satisfactory completion of contract.

Pay:

$22.90 - $35.50 (Dependant on experience)
