Cash Application Clerk

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Process mail for deposits and correspondence.
  • Process lockbox cash payments for E-Drive.
  • Pull/locate missing EOB's (Explanation of Benefits).
  • Identify Medi-Cal AR Tran-EOB recoupments.
  • Analyze payments for appropriate reimbursement according to assigned rates.
  • Notify leadership of all possible issues regarding billing, pricing, and adjustments.
  • Maintain awareness of current contracts/updates.
  • Perform data entry and administrative duties as requested.
  • Provide general administrative support to the cash applications team.
  • Perform routine clerical duties such as data entry, filing, compiling, and photocopying as needed.
  • Serve as a backup poster.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a related financial role.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial tools.
  • Knowledge of healthcare and insurance billing processes is a plus.
  • Previous experience in medical claims posting or related fields.
  • Ability to understand insurance contracts for cash posting purposes.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of HCPCS coding.
  • Knowledge of NDC coding.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 coding.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
