Job description

Business Office Clerk - Surgery Center

Location: San Rafael
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM



Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Office Clerk to support our surgery center's administrative operations. This role primarily focuses on paper charting, scanning, and filing patient records while ensuring efficient communication between patients, physicians, and the back office staff. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong organizational skills, and delivers excellent customer service.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and organize paper charts by scanning and filing them alphabetically into physical records.
  • Ensure all patient documentation is accurately completed and stored according to facility procedures.
  • Handle high-volume charting, managing over 100+ charts per day.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, assist with inquiries, and process appointment cancellations.
  • Greet and check in patients, ensuring a seamless registration process.
  • Communicate with the back office to notify them of patient arrivals.
  • Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, and mailing patient information.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly business office and medical records area.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare or medical office (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle high-volume documentation.
  • Experience with filing and managing paper charts (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
