Job description

Job Summary

The Billing Supervisor will oversee and optimize the billing processes for a Critical Access Hospital and three Rural Health Clinics. Your responsibilities include being the subject matter expert and point of contact with our third-party billing company, lead and mentor our onsite billing team, coordinate all insurance billing activities, and assist in resolving any billing discrepancies while promoting best billing practices. Additionally, you will collaborate with various departments to streamline billing workflows while adhering to regulatory requirements. This position is only available to individuals located in Minnesota.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and streamline billing and collection processes; maintain proper billing procedures with a focus on increasing efficiency
  • Manage the relationship with a third-party billing and collections team
  • Respond to staff and partner questions regarding insurance & claims-related issues
  • Prepares claims for submission
  • Prepares billing adjustments for rebilling
  • Contact patients regarding insurance issues as needed
  • Manages status of accounts and balances to identify inconsistencies
  • Ensures maximum reimbursement for services provided
  • Provides systematic, accurate and comprehensive reporting to administration
  • Ensures that all activities of the billing operations are compliant with Federal, State and payor regulations, guidelines and requirements
  • Possess working knowledge of reimbursement requirements for all insurances
  • Keeps up to date with carrier rule changes and billing procedures and distributes information to the practice
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an efficient, accurate and timely fashion
  • Communicates with the Revenue Cycle Director on an ongoing basis

Qualifications and Skills:

  • HB and PB EPIC insurance billing experience required
  • Rural Health and Critical Access Hospital experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid managed care plans, and commercial Insurances
  • Experience using Medicare's DDE system or equivalent to correct claims
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD 10
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Professional demeanor
  • Team player
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA regulations

Certificate:

  • Certified Medical Biller, preferred

Professional Experience:

  • Medical Billing and Coding: 5 years, required
  • Leadership experience: 3 years, preferred
  • Experience working/leading in a remote environment

Education:

  • High school or equivalent
  • College degree in accounting/finance/business management preferred
