Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submission of all medical claims while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process and submit claims via paper, electronic, and web portal billing.
  • Ensure all claims are submitted accurately and within payer deadlines.
  • Review and reconcile denials received through mail and Waystar, making necessary corrections.
  • Submit rebill claims within timely filing limits.
  • Follow up on rejected claims and correct errors within 24 hours in Waystar and state web portals.
  • Monitor billing schedules to ensure timely claim submission.
  • Review and adjust unbilled reports and units with no charges daily or at least weekly.
  • Collaborate with business managers and the revenue cycle manager to resolve complex denials.
  • Assist with month-end close processes as needed.
  • Cross-train in other billing functions to provide coverage as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other billing software.
  • Understanding of conditions of payment and medical billing guidelines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong professional communication skills via email and phone.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Compensation

  • $18 - $20 per hour (based on experience)
