Beverage Lab Technologist

Currently hiring for a Beverage Application Technologist to eventually take the role of Sr. Technologist within the next 6-8 months with a Flavor company located in the Northbrook, IL area. Ideally targeting candidates with R&D and/or formulation experience with beverages for 3+ years.

Position Overview

Applications Technologist performs laboratory work in the application lab using formulas provided from multiple sources and will include selecting, filling, packaging & shipping samples and sensory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop beverage finished products using our flavors for customers' presentations and tradeshows
• Develops application formulas as a way to demonstrate, screen and test flavors
• Selects and screens samples in an appropriate application for customers, chemists, applications, QC, and/or regulatory in a neat and timely manner.
• Prepares sensory methods for test
• Selects requested samples for customers
• Understands Flavor formulas and develops procedures to obtain required samples.
• The functions performed by this position are the execution and accountability of projects by designing & conducting experiments, recording of experimental data, leading cross-functional teams, and communicating of results to the Project Manager by means of progress reports, product examinations and laboratory reports.
• The incumbent is expected to have strong product formulation skills, in addition to good project planning skills which would enable him/her to independently plan, coordinate with Sr. Manager.
• Interacts with Flavorist to work out differences in formula and supports development and matching projects.
• Demonstrates good communication skills and excellent sense of taste and smell
• Monitors on-going work flow with the Senior Manager, Beverage Lab
• Participates in customer presentations as required
• Works accurately with small quantities
• Utilizes good time management skills while working under pressure
• Prepares graphs and charts, keeps accurate, complete and up to date records of all projects assigned. Prints and maintains security of all flavor formula batch sheets
• Operates standard laboratory equipment, cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment and glassware. Keep laboratory clean and orderly at all times
• Maintains the laboratories' supply of raw materials
• Prepares, fills, packs and ships samples as needed to complete projects
• Complies with all laboratory safety procedures, follows good lab practices for maintaining a safe, clean and organized work environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Science
• 3 years related experience; beverage formulation experience
