Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Hospital Billing Specialist with expertise in payer application billing and collection processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UB04 forms, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), medical terminology, and CPT/ICD-10 coding. The role requires proficiency in hospital registration and billing systems, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word. Candidates must be comfortable working in a high-volume, metric-driven environment and have a typing speed of 35 WPM or higher.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with departmental and Patient Financial Services (PFS) goals, policies, and quality standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Achieve and maintain productivity benchmarks (minimum 60 accounts per day) and audit accuracy standards (95%+).
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops, including AAHAM certification training and regulatory updates.
  • Complete required Continuing Education Units (CEU) and mandatory annual training.
  • Stay updated on regulatory and payer-specific billing requirements.
  • Meet monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) for open receivables, aged AR, credit balances, and high-dollar accounts.
  • Collaborate in PFS workgroups, staff meetings, and work events to drive process improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • 2+ years of hospital-based billing experience (Required).
  • Experience using payer portals for claims management and follow-up (Required).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Typing speed of 35 WPM or higher.

Compensation: $20-23.50 hourly depending on experience

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Location: Nottingham, MD 21236 (hybrid role- must be near enough to come onsite)

Start Date: ASAP
