Job description
Summary
Performs routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting. Prepares food and feeds animals, administers medications, maintains sanitary conditions, observes animal conditions and behavior, and collects animal specimens. May assist in animal restraint, maintaining animal housing and minor cage maintenance. Performs related responsibilities as required. Employees in the classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents. This position is considered essential personnel.
Requirements:
- 1 Year of Animal Care Experience (Working at Kennels, Groomers, Pet Store, etc)
- Ability to work alone
- Comfortable working on your feet and lifting up to 50 lbs
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be comfortable working at a facility doing animal research
- Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment
