POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for planning and leading social and recreational activities to improve clients' physical, mental, and social well-being. Additional duties as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize and lead activities such as sports, exercise, nature study, games, arts and crafts, and social events.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to select appropriate activities for clients based on their needs and abilities.
- Manage inventory and maintain equipment.
- Coordinate with external agencies for outings, entertainment, and volunteer support.
- Ensure timely billing for activities and transport clients to scheduled events using the van.
- Contribute to team meetings and staff conferences on client progress and program development.
- Assist with paraprofessional counseling and lead educational, social, and vocational activities.
- Monitor and document client progress in activities.
- Provide medical attention for injuries during outings and ensure client safety.
- Schedule activities to support clients' rehabilitation and personal growth.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to safety procedures.
- Foster a positive work environment and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Complete duties promptly and attend work consistently.
- Perform other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Ability to plan and organize recreational and social activities.
- Ability to assess clients for dangerousness and intervene in
- a timely, calm and appropriate manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Qualifications
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES
High school graduate and two (2) years of college toward a degree in Recreation, Behavioral Sciences or a related area
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Six (6) months of successful experience in a recreational setting.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver's license.
- TB clearance.
- Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
- Fire and Safety Training*.
- First Aid Training Certification*.
- CPR Certification*.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI)**

Employee will be required to lift and/or move unassisted up to 25 pounds.
- Schedule/ Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 8am - 5pm
