Job Posting: A/R Medical Billing Follow-Up Representative

Location: Hanover, MD 21076- with potential to go hybrid after training

Job Overview:

We are seeking an A/R Medical Billing Follow-Up Representative to join our team. Under the supervision of the Follow-Up Supervisor, this role is responsible for following up on insurance claim statuses, resolving denials, resubmitting claims, filing appeals, and handling patient inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing, insurance claim processes, and account resolution.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on denied and outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely resolution.
  • Verify insurance coverage, check claim status, and process claim appeals and resubmissions.
  • Investigate and resolve claim rejections, denials, and underpayments.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers and patients to obtain and update information.
  • Answer patient inquiries and address billing concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in the medical billing system per company guidelines.
  • Work closely with practice sites to gather and correct claim information when needed.
  • Monitor claim submissions, insurance payments, and denials to identify trends or issues.
  • Review and take appropriate action on incoming insurance and patient correspondence.
  • Respond to emails and phone inquiries from practice sites and insurance providers.
  • Stay up to date on insurance carrier rules, regulations, and policy changes.
  • Communicate effectively across departments and provide support and guidance to team members.
  • Escalate complex claim issues to the Supervisor and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, and insurance follow-up required.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes, denials, and appeals.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and insurance compliance.

Compensation: $19-21 hourly depending on experience

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30-5pm

Start Date: ASAP
