Job description

Join our multi-speciality private ophthalmic group as a Patient Care Representative (Medical Front Desk). We are seeking an individual with exceptional customer service skills and attention to detail to contribute to the smooth operation of our front desk. The Patient Care Representative plays a key role in ensuring a positive patient experience while managing various administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates with medical front desk experience, including EMR experience, collecting co-pays, insurance verification, etc.
  • Experience in a Customer Service role with a customer service attitude

Schedule/Shift:

  • 8-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch break
  • Start times between 7 am and 7:30 am

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients as they enter the facilities, answer telephones, check patients in and out, gather patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedule patient appointments and perform other administrative duties.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of patient reception and front office work areas.
  • Operate multi-line telephone systems and ensure effective communication.
  • Enter and update patient demographic and insurance information for every patient.
  • Conduct insurance verification using practice management systems, insurance websites, and in-house eligibility verification systems.
  • Obtain appropriate documentation from patients and scan documents into the practice management and EMR system.
  • Collect and record patient payments, including co-pays.
  • Schedule and/or reschedule patient appointments and process daily collections.
  • Prepare and make bank deposits, responsible for individual monies collected and daily deposit slips processed.
  • Manage daily appointment schedules, confirm and move patient appointments.
  • Process and send patient recall notices and obtain vision authorizations or eligibility.
  • Conduct administrative duties such as filing, typing, printing, photocopying, scanning, etc.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of urgent patient care and triage.
  • Act as a physician-patient liaison when necessary and appropriate.
  • Utilize resources such as insurance representatives and websites.
  • Meet daily quota for PM rescheduling queue.

General Expectations: Front Desk personnel will be expected to travel to 3 offices in total, including 1 home office and 2 other offices they are willing to work out of. Candidates will be asked to specify their preferred offices upfront, and scheduling will be done accordingly.
