Job description

The role of Lab Technician is pivotal for ensuring the smooth functioning of analytical testing activities. Here's an overview of the responsibilities and requirements:

Responsibilities:

  1. Glassware Maintenance: Ensuring cleanliness in the laboratory environment by washing glassware regularly, maintaining hygiene standards, and organizing lab materials appropriately.

  2. Sample Management: Managing samples efficiently and accurately documenting sample information to maintain traceability and facilitate analysis processes.

  3. Analytical Testing Support: Assisting in basic analytical testing procedures, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), and Ion Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (IC/MS), under the guidance of senior staff.

  4. General Lab Tasks: Supporting various lab tasks such as equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management to ensure equipment functionality and availability.

  5. Team Support: Collaborating with the CMC team to ensure cohesive and efficient laboratory operations, providing assistance as required to meet project deadlines and objectives.

Requirements:

  1. Educational Background: Preferably holding a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, providing the foundational knowledge required for laboratory work.

  2. Laboratory Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting, whether through academic laboratories or internships, demonstrates familiarity with lab protocols and procedures.

  3. Physical Capability: Ability to lift and move objects weighing 30-40 lbs is necessary to handle equipment and materials safely.

  4. Analytical Techniques: Familiarity with basic analytical techniques like HPLC, GC/MS, and IC/MS is advantageous, though not mandatory, as on-the-job training may be provided.

  5. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is essential for accurate sample handling, documentation, and adherence to protocols.

  6. Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills help in maintaining an orderly lab environment and managing tasks effectively.

  7. Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset are important for interacting with team members and ensuring smooth coordination within the department.
