Job description

A Hospital in San Bernardino is seeking an experience Medical Collector to join their Physician Services Billing team.

This is an onsite, contract to hire opportunity with a large healthcare organization.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and audits accounts for correct balance, proper follow-up and complete reimbursement. Processes all payer rejections/denials and follows up to resolve accounts in accordance with department standards.
  • Reviews and works with outside agency/department lists, EOBs, CSM requests, to verify patient services are coded correctly and payment has been applied properly.
  • Identifies misapplied payments, requesting payment adjustments/transfers or refunds.
  • Reviews/corrects registration/insurance data utilizing all available sources to obtain correct information. Requests Insurance authorizations, including Service Authorizations (SARs) for CCS and Treatment authorizations (TARs) for Medi-Cal when necessary for account resolution.
  • Processes all approved charge corrections timely, verifying proper adjudication for payor eligibility, following all Medicare/Medi-Cal/CCS and other payor guidelines.
  • Processes correspondence for accounts and takes appropriate billing action.
  • Receives and resolves phone issues/questions. Pulls appropriate documentation; takes proper action and documents through computer.
  • Completes correspondence/tickler logs weekly maintaining department standards for work in progress.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years Physician Billing & Insurance Follow-Up experience (CMS1500 claims)
  • Experience working Commercial, Medi-Cal, Medi-Caid, and Medi-Care accounts
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
  • EPIC (preferred)

Schedule:

  • Monday-Thursdays - 8.5 hour shift starting between 7am - 8:30am
  • Fridays - 6 hour shift (no break)

Pay: $18 - 22 per hour (depending on experience)

Duration: 800 hours (approx. months) contract to hire*

*Opportunity of direct employment with client upon successful completion of contract period.

PTO/Sick Pay: You will receive one day of PTO (8 hours) after working 300 hours and an additional day of PTO for every 240 hours after. You can accrue up to 6 days PTO max. (Emeryville, San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles accrue at 0.033 per hour rate with a max of 9 days PTO).
