Clinical Duties:
Patient Care: Assist physicians and nurses in the examination and treatment of patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Vital Signs: Take and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate.
Medical History: Obtain patients' medical history and record relevant information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Assisting with Procedures: Prepare patients for medical procedures, including obtaining and setting up necessary equipment and supplies.
Administering Medications: Administer medications or injections as directed by the physician and according to established protocols.
Specimen Collection: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
Performing Basic Lab Tests: Conduct basic laboratory tests such as urinalysis, EKGs, and phlebotomy procedures.
Patient Education: Provide patients with instructions for medication, diet, and lifestyle modifications as directed by the physician.
Administrative Duties:Appointment Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments and manage the physician's calendar efficiently.
Medical Records Management: Maintain and update patient medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
Insurance Verification: Verify patients' insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures and referrals.
Front Desk Support: Greet patients, answer phone calls, and provide assistance with inquiries or concerns.
Medical Office Supplies: Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
Patient Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up calls to patients regarding appointments, test results, and medication refills as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain cleanliness and sterility in patient care areas.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on medical advancements and attend relevant training sessions or conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and rights while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- High School or GED Diploma
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA.
- 6+ months of recent Medical Assistant experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to navigate EMR Systems
