Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a BH (Behavioral Health) Intake Specialist/Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for performing level of care assessments on patients presenting mental health symptoms in the Emergency Room. Your assessments, lasting approximately 2 hours each, will play a crucial role in determining the appropriate course of care for each individual, whether it be admission, referral to intensive outpatient or outpatient settings.

The BH Intake Specialist holds a Master's degree in a social science field, while the Intake Coordinator possesses a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. We are open to both experienced coordinators and recent graduates for the Specialist position. Currently, our overnight shift does not have onsite coverage; however, our collaborative teams across our company's 32 hospitals are readily available for assistance. Providers are also on-call to support clinical decision-making.

Upon reaching a decision, you will facilitate the transition of care to the acute or inpatient teams, providing support and safety planning for immediate discharge cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct level of care assessments for patients presenting mental health symptoms in the ER.
  • Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary team to determine appropriate care plans.
  • Transition care to acute or inpatient teams as necessary, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain communication with virtual care takers to handle overflow effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and independence within the onsite team.

Interview Process:

The interview process will consist of one virtual interview with Misty (Supervisor) and one with a manager. Candidates who wish to participate in a shadow day are welcome to do so.

Pay:

  • Masters: $24-38 per hour
  • Bachelors: $22-36 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in a social science or related field.
  • Experience in mental health assessment and care coordination preferred for Bachelor's candidates.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a stimulating and fast-paced environment.
